Almost everyone used a Detroit motor at one time almost
-Case had a version of 500 that was Detroit optional
-*****hutt used in 1900 and 1950
-John Deere used in 8010 and 8020
-Massey Ferguson used in 98
-Oliver used in 99 super (optional but popular)
Then Detroits were the most widely used Diesel non-Cat motor used in industrial equipment til the mid 80's, everything from Forklifts, cement mixer motors, backhoe motors, motor graders, etc.... and then also extremely popular marine motors aswell
The legendary 855 began itts tractor life in 70 I think in the Versatile 800. But the 555 and 903 V8 had their fair share of models. My knowledge of things ends in 1990 but I hear Cummins even more poopular
Driving a cummins I hardly had to shift at all on the flat lands of Saskatchewan compared to Detroit. I started out with a Detroit so that became my favorite.
I started out with a mack when I was 17ish, then a detroit when I actually got my license. Little different of a detroit though, 60 series, it was as easy as driving my old civic!
I always liked that old Kitty 400 Cat I drove even with the trakhoe on it took a hill and a half before I had to worry. Speaking of which yes it is Bud from Excel owns it now
