Well say day for my new truck had it two months an the tranny went out on me today. No forward gears at all just reverse had to get it towed home. Now to learn how to drop a trans an pub it back in
No time or money to do a swap. Would love to but. I don't even have the money to fix it ain't even made the first loan payment on it yet. An where I live they don't take kindly to people driving backwards. Thought about it tho. Only $95 to get it home cheap for around here it's usually just a 125 hook up an 10 a mile. Imma talk to a family friend who builds trans for race cars an see what it'll take to rebuild it but im gonna have to drop it
I did the auto to trans swap myself, and i bought a whole truck, made all money back and then some on parting the parts truck out and it was a older idi truck
There's a few but the guy I know use to run a shop in manasass but retired an his son still does. So until the. I'm sadly driving around in my friend 97 chevy but atleast I have wheels.
I don't understand how someone can have money to have an automatic rebuilt, but not enough to do a manual transmission swap. If you just don't want a manual, that's cool and there's nothing wrong with that. For me, however, the swap is going to wind up being cheaper than a crappy rebuild of the automatic.
I know where your coming from, i was in the same boat, the time frame of doing a swap, is not very long, I did mine in a day, once i had all my parts, it is a little harder then just swapping in another auto, nut not by much, and I just begged, borrowed, and pleeded, got the cash together, and bought a parts truck, then paid everyone back as I sold off the parts.
It was a real stressful time, i was just starting my own bussines, and used my truck for that bussines, alot of nights of no sleep, and terrible days, until i got the plan in action
im hoping it's something simple like that. i use my truck to get to my first job and use it for my second. and my friends truck just aint equipped to handle what i do with mine his is a reg cab short bed 2wd wide back tires Cheyenne it's a race truck not a work truck. so that's why im just gonna get the trans fixed i should say not rebuilt. cause the only thing i'll have to do is drop it take it to him and put it back in. and thats because i can't get the whole truck down there to him my trucks the one usually towing and hauling everyones cars so no one has one to haul mine.
