this is for my 99.5 f350 gonna replace #8 injector also gonna install new orings.when i pull #8 out can i install the new one right away or pull 8-6-4-2 first then install all four when i replace the orings OR pull all 8 injectors then install accordinlly when i finish putting on the new orings, thanks, jon
cleatus, person hooked it up to his A/E thats what showed up .truck running little rough and starting to smoke too. so your telling me just because they hooked it up to a scanner that don't mean its bad i thought that the A/E scanner is the best for these trucks now i'm i kinda glad did'nt waste my money on one.
It is POSSIBLE for the #8 injector to be bad, but it's very unlikely. Just do a search here for contribution faults for cylinder #8 (P0284).....99% of these 7.3L trucks will fail that cylinder for no reason. You have much more diagnostics ahead of you before you throw a $300+ injector at the truck just to come up with the same code over and over.
THIS is the EXACT reason I disapprove of scan tools in the hands of people who have no idea what they're looking at/for.
Wow, I'm in the 1% that doesn't fail CCT's Yea! Lol
Cody is right though, its very likely that you failed with a balance fault. Many report balance faults on #3 and 8 with the gray CPS installed. I actually have the gray now and no balance faults. Way too many factors contributing to failed CCT's. This is just an assumption of the tests that were performed though. Did it have a weak "buzz"? Hopefully it was your issue, btw What was your issue?
Remove injector, check for copper. Remove glow plug. Install new injector with new O-rings and copper. TQ to spec. Check for flatness with others. Install valve cover with one bolt. Bump starter a time or two, then crank (using the starter solenoid on the passenger fender well). Install glow plug.
well its done took a while to fire up but eventually did but has like a knocking noise so i thought maybe has air in the system so i take on the freeway its quiet plenty of power drove about 25 mile when i got off the freeway setting waiting for the light still can hear that knocking sound but when i give it gas its quiets down its like coming fron the driver side gonna pull the valve cover off any suggestion on what to check, thanks jon
