fuel regulator

Is a fuel pressure regulator absolutely necessary on a fuel bowl delete? What if any woudl be the negative effects of running lines directly from supply line to factory bowl to the fuel rails? I thought i saw a homemade setup without a regulator here on FTE.

I think i just answered my own question right after i posted it, should have thought about it longer. I don't think you would want 60-80 psi running all the way back to the tank, churning the fuel and possibly not leaving enough fuel in the rails to take advantage of the fuel bowl delete. Am i on the right track?

Taking a jab at this one, but if no FPR, then the fuel would likely pass right by the injectors in the rail. FPR, i think, is there to feed/keep fuel housed in the rails

The FPR is a metered restriction. Without one, you would have less pressure. A fixed orifice of the proper size on the return side would be an option to an "regulator", but the pressure would fluctuate more do to the demands of the injectors. I believe the the spring loaded regulator adds a dampening effect to the pressure to keep it more stable.
