6.0 diesel
Hello the fire,
I am going to be purchasing another truck soon w/a diesel engine. I am looking for info. on the 6.0 and later ford diesel engines.Pros Cons the good bad and the ugly. I will be pulling horse and stock trailers with the truck. Any and all info. greatly appreciated!

I just bought an low mile 07. I talked to the local dealer who is very helpful. Told me not to waste money on headstuds until at least the warranty is expired.Which is May of next year. That way if I have any problem with head gaskets all I have to pay for is the ARP headstuds. The 07 is the best year only because the Turbo has an internal groove to prevent sticking of the vanes of the turbo. I think you definitely can't go wrong if you get an 06 or 07. Depending where you live an EGR Delete would be a first priority. That greatly reduces the chance of any head gasket problems. I also have an 03 Excursdion with exhaust, Intake and Edge CTS on mileage setting and have never had a problem with it.
