Hey all
This is my first post
I have a set of heads on my 1987 Mustang and no one I talk to seems to know what they are
Without ripping them apart to find a casting number all I have to go on are the type of spark plugs that are in them
The part number on them is Motorcraft BSF 42C
The guy I bought the car from thought they were GT 40 heads but the plug part number doesnt match them either
Looking in the oil fill cap I can clearly see Crane Gold Series rollers
The heads also have stock looking headers attached a is the rest of the exhaust
Any help in finding out what type of head I actually have would be greatly appreciated
Look under the spark plugs at the left end of the head just above the block, and right next to a head bolt. If you don't see the letters GT cast there, they are not GT-40's. To find out what they are, pull a valve cover and find the casting number, which will start out something like D5OE or such. Post the number on this site and someone will tell you what they are.
Don't waste your time poking around under the valve covers looking for a casting number. IT's on the bottom side of the head in the pushrod pass-through area. You'll have to pull the intake and use a mirror to see it.
Whoops! BlueOvalRage is right! I was thinking of another manufacturer. Shame on me. Never the less, if you can get the number, we can tell you what it is.
