Hello all. I have a 2001 F250 SD 4X4 w/ Cruise Control and Auto trans. 5.4L engine
2 questions:
1. I removed my old black vinyl factory steering wheel and am trying to install a new one. (Simply for looks) Both are OEM parts but my new wheel will not go onto the splines. It begins to crush them as it seems a bit too small in the diameter of the wheel collar. The new wheel has a steel positioning piece (collar) and it seems to be crushing the splines. The old wheel seems to be using just the aluminum of the interior wheel bracket.
I reinstalled the old wheel until I can fihgure out what to do. Do I mill the inside of the steel piece to fit over the splines? Or is it supposed to be incredibly hard to install?
2. My new wheel only has 3 wires for the 5 pin connector for the cruise control. The old one used all 5 wires. Did Ford redesign and now it only requires 3 wires in the connector?
