Regarding the quest for a decent product to help with dull liners... last week, I stopped by the Rhino Liner shop in town and asked the same thing for a truck with a 4 year old liner, which is always in the sun. They have a product which is just for this purpose and is applied with a sponge. I saw two vehicles which reportedly had this applied some time ago and looked real good! The product brings back a sheen and has black pigment.

They suggested cleaning the liner with soap and a tire scrub brush and allowing to dry completely, prior to applying the coating.

The cap is a "Accu-Form", made in the USA......Purchased from AZBOB*1 on Ebay for $115.05 to my door by Fed-Ex. Great fit, easy install, and they include some silicone adhesive if you want to use it..... Came sealed in plastic and well packed in a double wall box.

Drink holders? Aren't the ones on the glove compartment lid enough for you? Oh, you want ones that won't spill the drink when someone shifts slightly in the cab?

The only problem I see with the console is it takes up the room that seems to have been built for my Craftsman toolbox - without which my truck dare not wander far from home.

Just jealous! Gonna look very, very good!

Although Ford DID USE state of the art drink holders on the glove box door, I figured the white would add pizazz.

'Tis interesting how the "state of the art" changed over the years. I made a statement to my wife that my truck didn't have drink holders and she pointed out that I was wrong - what else is new? So, that was the state of drink-holder art in '82.

I have a '99 ML 320 which has MB's first attempt at drink holders I'm told. Guess they don't drive while drinking over there 'cause the holders are cut down on the back side. Yep, standard-sized drinks fall right out if you gun it.

I think yours will be much better. Gonna be anxious to see the end result.

Console Progression..........

Here's the progression of the console.......from laying down some adhesive chrome (with correct overhangs to hide the carpet base), to carpet installation and trimming. I used NO glue.....hate the stuff unless it's necessary. Carpet was laid out by nap and started from the center front for uniformity.....small staples hold it all on, placed strategically on the edges only to allow for a natural "fall and flow" of the carpet when you slide the console in....it has 1.5" flaps to flow over the floor of the truck. The woodgrain is simply the birch grain plywood with a bit of cherry Minwax, then "Helmsman" urethane.

That is absolutely amazing. Very nice attention to detail...I have been pondering for months now about using some wood to make accents over the radio and other various places like you did and now I think you have made the decision easier for me!

Doc...
I would really love if you could give a little how-to on your console. Me and my now Mtn Dew covered floor mats would greatly appreciate it.

MB is Mercedes Benz. Dunno what ML is, some kinda model designation. Anyway, 'tis their first true sport utility. Bought it new and with 135k it is still working.

Exclamation Hood Emblem

I've never really been a big fan of the blue Ford oval emblem, SO I came up with my own design for the hood instead of something in the grille......... It's the classic Ford based V8 emblem, then under it I installed a vintage Cadillac V....The lines are parallel, and it came out pretty cool I think. My Dad used to customize trucks back in the 50's and 60's.....I guess some of him rubbed off on me.......

In the second pic is "Blue's" baby sister sittin' next to him under the carport.........She's waitin' patiently for HER new dash as Blue gets most of the attention for the past few weeks....... I gotta be careful.......She can be a real "Barracuda" when she gets riled..........

Hey, we have even more in common - I have a '69 Bee sitting in the shop waiting its turn to be restified. That's a good looking Bacaruda. 273 w/a 727 or A833? And, did they call that hood a "Powerbulge" at the time or did was that just Dodge's name for the equiv on the Bee?
