was wondering about the handheld programmers to increase shift points on tranny.....
just bought a 99 f250 powerstroke w/ 6" lift and 35's and was wondering a way to get more performance.
Both the SCMT & Diablo Predator seem to be the way to go. From what I have read the Diablo has more features.
I wouldn't go with the Hypertech.........heard of high EGTs and lower power than with the other two.
Check out This Thread that talks out the Diablo vs. SCMT.
If you are asking if Ford will be able to tell it was there, I don't think so. The way I understand is that you return the vehicle back to the stock programming and disconnect the batteries it shouldn't leave a sign that it was there. However, I have not heard any gaurentees of that.
One of the benefits of a programmer vs. a chip is that you don't have to clean the contacts on the pcm/ecu (whatever you want to call the computer.)
ya--pretty much
i really dont tow anything ;just want to get the tranny to shift sooner to compensate for the bigger tires. will one of these help me to accomplish this?
Was the speedo ever recalibrated for the bigger tires...either by the dealer or with a Superlift Truspeed???
I think I read that the Diablo will be able to recalibrate the speedo and shift points but that those features aren't yet available (don't hold me to that though). It currently can adjust the firmness of the shifts if I remember correctly.
im pretty sure it hasn't. i bought it off a lot that specializes in lifting fords from stock......
you think the diablo would work better for me than a superchip?
Here's the order that I'd recommend:
1-gauges
2-intake
3-exhaust
4-chip or programmer
I did 1, 2, & 3 all at once and still deciding on #4.
Gauges allow you to monitor what your engine is doing, and tell you what affect the upgrades have.
Most popular gauges are Autometer, Western Diesel, Isspro, and Di-Procal (sp??) mounted in an A-pillar mount. Or, a lot of people like the X-monitor since it is a 3 in 1 gauge, takes up less space, can have alarms set, and I think it has a bit of a memory to it (not sure since I don't have one.)
