Has anyone installed the EDAS that powerstrokehelp.com is selling to help prevent major engine failures. Or do you know of someone who installed it and have heard feedback. Sounds like a good idea especially with failed egr valves and coolers that are seen in these engines. It won't prevent those failures but is supposed to warn you and let you know you have an issue to be looked at before you loose an engine.
I haven't seen this before, but the identity of the seller as well as some of the wording on the website make me question the capability of such a product.
First of all there are lots of opinions of Bill Hewitt, and most of them on FTE are bad, and that he really doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't know about this particular product, but I don't think I'd spend $260 on a product he designed. Not saying that I know it doesn't work, just that I have my doubts. Now if he were to accompany it with an engine warranty and guarantee the performance of his product it may be worth a look. But he's only liable for the $260 EDAS...and if it doesn't detect your engine self-destructing it's not on him.
That's why I would like feedback if anyone installed it on their ride before spending the $$. I would like to know if it actually warned the operator of a failure before any symptoms from the gauges or codes as he advertises. They say they have sold hundreds of units. So would like to see if anyone in fte actually bought this product and any feedback they have.
