Retrofitting Power Steering

Will this stuff work on my '74, with an '85 300cid?

Supposedly it is from a '95 f150 2wd with the same engine as my rig.

You can make anything work. What is your truck? Is it a F250 highboy? If it is, looks like the pitman arm is long enough to reach under the frame rail and over the leaf spring. If it's not, looks like you can turn the pitman arm 90° and use it like a cross over steering system. Regardless, you might get away with plating the inside of the frame rail and mounding the box with three holes. Give it a try.

OOps, I forgot to mention that my '74 is a 2wd. I'd obviously prefer a bolt on setup.

I don't know if the PS pump's pully will line up with my crank pully, i'll just eyeball that if I get it. What I am particularly concerned with is how the steering gear will interface with the frame and the rest of the steering assembly on the '74...

no the power steering box will not work. the earlier truck had the box mounted behind teh axles and is much larger. the later truck has it mounted up front and is actually a 79-9? car box (a bit of trivia!) and it will not bolt in. what you need has to be from a 67-79 2wheel drive and you will need the steering column and firewall mounting plate as well as they are shorter than non-power steering. hawkrod
