4x4 selector switch not working

1987 bII. The selector switch to engage 4x is not working and the indicator lamps are not lighting up. Any Ideas? New Owner, all help appreciated.

electric (push button)4x4 system? The electric shift motor that's on the transfer case can get dirty and stuck.

Yeah, figured that might be the next step. Cleaned switch contacts and checked fuses & connectors. Thanks for the article link. It makes it a little easier when you know what to look out for. Will do it Sat. (4/05)
