Been working on my new(to me) '08 E350. Gave my '04 to my foreman so now I'm getting the new one all set up. Got rid of three of the benches, put in my bins, shelves and drawers and loaded in all my tools last week. Started working on the mods today.
1. JVC HD radio/cd head unit
2. A-pillar gauge pod with trans temp and water temp gauges
3. Draw-Tite brake controller wired to 7-way plug at rear
4. Curt Class 4 hitch
Still to do:
4 bar aluminum ladder rack
Rear air shocks/load levelers
Front coil spring air bags
Clarion 6 x 8 speakers
Derale deep sump trans pan with cooling tubes
SCT Regular fuel tune by DP Tuner
Custom painted steel wheels with stainless steel trim rings
Red LED light strips on stock rear tail light housings
High power LED bulbs front and rear
Sylvania SilverStar Ultra headlight bulbs
Driving lights
I'd be interested in seeing the cargo bay layout-----the other comfort and appearance mods sound like a nice added touch---gotta have tunes and cool looking wheels IMHO!
My work truck seems to be a constant work in progress especially tool storage and easy access to it all from standing outside. I have tons of stow space inside for seldom used things but having it more at hand is my ultimate goal.
What kinds of loads or trailers will you be towing?
I'll get some pics of the storage later today. I have an open 6 x 16 dual axle utility trailer for hauling materials, trash and the occasional small car. I also have a 6 x 12 enclosed tool trailer that goes from site to site.
Hello from LA. I really like the mods you've done to your new van! I especially like the guage pod. I have an 05 E350 that I'm fixing up as I go, too. Where did you buy your guage pod? Keep on vannin'!
Thanks! I got the pod and gauges on ebay. Pod was $26, gauges were about $75 each. Pretty easy install too. I removed the grab bar and the stock a-pillar trim piece, fished the wires through the gap next to the dash then reinstalled the stock trim piece. The gauge pod installs over the stock cover with plastic trim nails. Got my ladder rack today so tomorrow I will be installing that, 4 Clarion speakers, chrome air horns, front and bench seat covers and wiring the gauges under the dash.
Nice! I'm doin a gauge pod soon too for trans temp and tach. Are you gonna wait and wire your trans temp in when you do the trans pan? Let us know how easy (or not) that is. I'm not pulling much with mine until I have a trans temp gauge!
Oh, also, I'd love to see a pic of your wheels when you get them done.
Thx
The trans temp sender is actually pretty simple, it's a hex head bolt in the drivers side of the trans just above the pan and in front of the linkage. Remove the bolt and the sender threads right in.
