Title trouble

I have a problem getting a title. Of course this is a lost title, but the man I bought the truck from is in Texas, he bought it from an old man in Mississippi, that old man is dead now. I live in Texas. Do I just apply for a lost title in Texas?

Easiest but not the cheapest would be to apply for a bonded title. There are companies in Texas that will process everything for you. Costs about $200 if I remember right. You get a title and a bond certificate which is basically an insurance policy in case someone makes a claim on it. If after 3 years no one does a clear title is issued in your name.

You must follow your States current laws - Go to the SEMA web site, they have posted all the States requirements.

I am going to the DMV today, I am just concerned that it is a Mississippi title and I'm trying to replace it in Texas. I called the Mississippi DMV and they were very tacky to me and said I lost my money when I bought the truck with no title.

Just from reading some of the other guy's stories, it seems Texas may be one of the more easier states to work with in this regard. It doesn't sound like you'll have an issue with anyone coming after your truck, so the 3 year bonded title may be a good option for you. Let us know what you find out from your dmv.

I hear ya about the heat... It's only suppost to get up to 106° here today... Anything over 90° (I'm getting old), it's just to hot to climb under the hood. Unless you have too...
