I have a steady dripping coolant leak coming from the bottom of the motor/transmission connection. It's not leaking above the motor. I thought it was the rear freeze plug but my neighbor has a hot rod shop and said there isn't a plug back there. Please help, what's the source? Thanks!
The steady drip bothers me. With that drip you should be able to find the source.
I would agree that it is unlikely there is a plug back there and I doubt your source is from the back. The anti-freeze is following a route back to there though. Maybe a leak on top of the motor that is runnng along the intake and running down the back.
I've crawled inside the engine compartment and the top and rear of the motor and tranny are bone dry. What would be the fix if it was inside the intake? Any idea of cost?
I think if I understand Dave correctly, you'll need to pull your intake manifold and replace the gasket. The gasket isn't a big deal, but pulling the intake will take a little time. Do you plan on doing it yourself or have someone else do it? A shop should be able to do it in a "day" and have it back to you.
