e4od hard to move in first
hello all, i have a 94 f150 2x4 351/e4od. an issue started today that kinda has me stumped. when i put the truck in D it starts in second doesnt even try for 1st. if i lock it in first it doesnt want to move, almost like you have the brakes on. if you give it a little throttle it will move but really has to try. also wont roll forward in 1st if the trucks running. shift it to 2nd and all is good from there up. no slipping.

Possibly the second gear solenoid is partially applied (jammed), causing the trans to have second gear partially applied all the time? Putting it in Manual Low (1st) would use the low/rev clutch instead of the low sprague (I think), putting the trans into two gears at once. That would be a logical wild-**** guess. Another thought would be an issue with the intermediate clutch being farked.
Haven't been inside one of these beasts so these are just edumakated guesses. The last few 'new' OD trannies I was inside of were the AOD and the TH700/200 when I taught at Sequoia Institute.
HTH,
Ray
