1986 ford f250 diesel trannmission problem

i have a 1986 ford f250 diesel pick up and when i put it in reverse it starts shakeing and some times it wont backup at all please help.thanks

Manual or automatic transmission?

What *does* happen when it won't back up? Assuming it at least shakes......

its an automatic and when it wont backup engine revs up back end starts shakeing

Do you hear any noises? Grinds, clunks etc.?

BOOST VALVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



It tends to wear out and bypass fluid the stock one is a steel piston with an aluminum cylinder POOR design!!!


Install this entire kit 4L60E 700R4 4L80E 4R100 E4OD 2004R C6 TH350 TH400 Transmission Parts: SUPERIOR C6 SHIFT CORRECTION PACKAGE W/ BOOST VALVE

I would jack up the rear end, put it on blocks, then investigate (ensuring it's not set in 4WD (if applicable))

Nobody here has SEEN his truck, for all we know he has a rear end problem but he doesn't know it.

just got it back from the shop a month ago for the trannmissin not the same since

are you saying that the tranny was rebuilt a month ago ? or what did they do ?
if it was rebuilt then take it back to them ! There are many different types of rebuilt trannys that come from different shops , some shops will clean the out side and paint it and charge you for a new one , some will only replace the seals and charge you for a new one , some will replace the worn parts with better looking used parts and tell you it is new ! there are lots of crooked tranny shops around !
