Some of these numbers are great. I have only reset my avg econ at 2500 miles and 5500 miles. I have 6800 on it now and do mostly in town driving (80-20) the first stayed at 13.2 and the second has been at 12.8 and thats what amazes me about some of these numbers. I do tow a skid steer on a trailer (11000) and a dump trailer (10000) i am not unhappy with what i got but just found these big numbers amazing.
Good data. Good to see a factory 400 HP heavy truck can get good mileage
I helped a buddy move today. My truck and 2 Rangers. They get ~18mpg in their rangers and I'm right in the same ballgame (OK, maybe a tad less on average). My truck vs a ranger? No comparison
I wish I could get up over 20, but that seems to be a long shot. I reset my trip A and my average at each tank and let my trip B run the totals (it has never been reset and I don't plan to either). My tank average is usually pretty close, maybe 1/2mpg off from hand calculating, if that.

I'm in the same ballpark....avg. at 2600 miles is 14.2 mpg. The only way that I can see these high numbers being true is...... A) There're not.....ie: people are lying about them.... Or.... B) Everyone but me drives like a blue haired 83 year old out for a Sunday cruise after church!
Im shocked.....just got my truck today...kind of an impulse buy bc my '07 6.0 was acting up. 80 mile trip home (70 miles highway) and the truck said 21.4 average when I pulled in the driveway. Cruise was set to 68mph. Im sure it will go down once the regen's start right? So far VERY happy!

Ooooh, this should get interesting.
There is a good bunch of people here, and, nobody here lies. When it comes to hard data, nobody here even exaggerates or "rounds up".
Also, we drive our trucks normally. Been reading stuff from these posters for a while now, I don't think anyone here can resist the power and feel of acceleration that this engine provides. I know for a fact that you can go 0-60 as hard as you want and it does not impact the average very much at all as long as you don't do it at every light or stop.
A lot of us tow trailers very frequently too. My averages are always 12 - 12.5 because of my trailer. Unloaded, driving in town running errands, 17-18. Unloaded long interstate cruising, gets into the 18's for me. Just depends on where you are, fuel quality, and lots of other stuff.

Ah, but the power-hungry's reply is "but its so much fun!" I know a guy thats like that - 08 6.4 with DPF-delete, he guns it all the time.
I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. I generally drive very carefully - soft acceleration. I don't drive "slow" though (right at the speed limit). I reset my average and trip A with every fill up and the mpg is usually pretty close. All up average (over 7300 miles) is right at 17.5 (meter).

I just posted above...I know I just got it but I dont usually drive really fast. 68-72 highway. I hope it doesnt get worse!!!

I drive completely different. I'm not one to speed, but I do accelerate frequently. When I had either of my diesel pickups I made a point to go WOT at least once or twice every time they got driven. EGR valves can get clogged with gunk and turbo veins can stick. I think it's a VERY healthy thing to do with a modern diesel engine.

Here's my average over 22 fill-ups. This is a very low average because there was ~1,800 miles towing in here where I averaged ~10 MPGs with my trailer. Look at the unloaded tanks...18-20 MPG consistently.
And the screen below was reset before I started driving to work(42 miles) and taken once I parked. I'm 25 years old...do you really think I drive like I'm 83?
I by far am totally impressed and not angry about everyones numbers. The real test is to leave the avg econ alone over 2-3000 miles and see what you get. Im sure i can change that everytime i go out with a reset. highway one day city the next. I feel i am close to the real numbers with very little highway to help my numbers. just another way to look at it. The mileage is really not even an issue with why I bought the truck. I am a 3 dmax crewcab owner who changed to a much better truck. Im a happy guy!!!!
Since purchase Im averaging about 16. I have over 13k miles since 12-10. I am getting around 15 in town and about 18 on the road. Just did 3k miles with 4500 lbs and averaged about 13.5. There seems to be something magic about over 70 because mileage goes south above that. 68 got me 14.5 and 73 got about 12.8 pulling only 4500. O have 20's and 355 gears on f 250 auto. Milage seems to have gone down a bit since new, but maybe that might be my imagination and $4 diesel. It is getting a little expensive to drive empty just for fun, it seems. And, I miss my 1997 f 250 diesel.
towed 200 miles today....roughly 9k lbs in my enclosed car hauler. it has the aero dynamics of a brick but MAN I didnt think the mpg would go down so much! Anyone got any tips for upping the mpg while towing? I mean it still beats my 6.0 but thought it would be a little better
