I'm new here and glad to be here !! I was wondering if anyone knew how to hook up this radio. My truck is a 79 and the radio I have now is just AM
and does not work well.I did find a radio/8-track in a flea market but the wires are different colours than my old radio.The radio does fit and says Ford on it so I'm guessing its from a 73 or 74 maybe. Can anyone help?
I have one black with a faily huge round thing on it
one blue/red
one small black
one orange/green
one white

Welcome to FTE! Lots of knowledgable folks here, so somebody here can probably help.
I'm guessing here, a bit, but the colored wires with the colored stripes in it are likely the speaker wires. The heavy black wire might be for the antenna and the black and white are your power and ground. Difficult to say without having a picture to work from, but it reminds me of days of playing around with a 77 Chevy Chevette.
Try doing an Advanced Search under the Search tab. Use different combos to see what you can drum up. I'm guessing that if you Search in the older vehicle forums, you might find your answer of someone who can.

Here is a link to wiring diagram for an 80-81 F150 which is as far as they go back and should be the same as the 79. You might want to try posting on the F150 forum
