Does anyone know why automotive manufactures are designing suv's without cargo doors? My problem is if I attach my 2008 Expedition to my trailer I can't open the cargo hatch, because it hits the trailer jack (it is a short jack). Likewise if I attach the exp to the trailer with the hatch open I can't close the hatch because it hits the propane tanks. Are there any after market cargo door kits out there? I have the longest hitch receiver they make. I have been told, also, I could have the trailer hitch lengthen.
That's strange. Is this your 2008 Nash TT? I had two expy's and neither one had a problem with the rear hatch and tongue jack handle clearance on my 30ft Jayco. You may just have to open the rear glass as your only option if indeed you have the longest hitch you can find on it now. What kind of hitch\reciever setup are you using?
I have a 2002 Nash TT Model 25R, it weight 7200 lbs., with a hitch weight of 860 lbs.. I have EAS-LIFT WDH, with 1000 lbs, bars. The 2 inch shank is 13 inches from lock pin to center of ball. I have been told this the longest shank they make. The ball head is fasten to the shank as high as it will go. Even if I had a higher shank I would still have the head set at that position because the TT is level at that height. I would send a picture if I knew how. The receiver is short, tucked under the bumper. I have thought of lenghtening the receiver by adding an extension, but I thing that would put extra stress on the factory installed hitch.
Maybe somebody else can chime in on this one. My thoughts are to swap out the reciever with a factory junkyard one, or to go to a trailer dealer and show them your set-up and see what they recommend.
