what up fellas, k i have a 75 SWB 4x4 single cab 360cid, with overhauled motor all new internals and externals, edelbrock intake and carb. ? went out 4 wheeling in it and as soon as I began to climb the sand hill the engine stalls and eventually dies completly, when rolled down to level surface and got it going again, tried again same thing. Can sum 1 tell me why or is that normal or cuz its not fuel injected or need a more gallon per hour fuel pump. Please Help ASAP. engines runs great pretty smooth.
Arrightee... if the angle is high enough, the jets in the carb can get uncovered cuz the fuel will run to the backside of the carb. Then your sucking air instead of fuel.
Floats... side hung floats can get hung up cuz the hinged side binds up. If so, your right foot is trying to give it more fuel to match the incoming air but it will lean out and stall due to an improper air/fuel mixture. Then sometimes the fuel will slosh out the vent tube.
Edelbrocks are probably the worst off road carb, Holley can be improved upon, Motorcraft 2100 2V does very well, Quadrajets do good, but only sure fire cure is FI.

I agree 100 %, Its real tough to beat the Motorcraft. I have several Edelbrocks and Carter AFB's in the setting on a shelf, because I have never got one to stop loosing fuel when the going gets real steep even with the off road kit installed.
