Looking for some help, 2000 F350 7.3L Powerstroke, bad vibration coming from all over truck, no check engine light, no fluids leaking, no smoke from exhaust, just the vibration when truck is revved over 1500 rpm. In neutral, in park and when in gear. Motor mounts and tranny mounts appear to be fine, weights on drive shaft are still there?????Any suggestions?
thanks, will look into it...it started as a light vibration, like driving over the wake-up strips on the side of the highway and got worst withing seconds afterwards, didn;t see anything fly from under the truck.
Have someone get in it and rev the truck while you look. You should be able to see if there is a wobble. If that is not it i would ask in the 7.3 forum. I'm not that knowledgeable on diesels. Ohh btw welcome to FTE
Now it appears that the fuel injector harness may be bad, harmonic balance appears to be intact.....was also told the high pressure fuel pump may aslo be bad
Just got a call from mechanic, 12"+ crack in bell housing. Does anyone
know if this can be welded.....truck was never worked, plowed, or towed
anything....thanks

Here is a common issue with the injector wiring harness(UVCH) sounds like a possibility... How many miles on the injectors? Any smoke out of the tailpipe? If you flip your oil fill cap over on the tube will it stay in place or is there pressure behind it trying to blow the cap off? As said, there is some great info here 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
The welder selected, told me no problem with the welding. The tranny has to come off so that it my be prepped correctly. He's welded a couple before that were still in place and it had to be re-done. Every one that had been pulled is still on the road, as far as he knows. This appears to be the best option. There is 148,000 miles on the truck, no smoke out the pipe, no fluids leaking, tried the oil cap and it didn't stay in place. Thanks for all your replies. The other option was a re-man'd trans for $2600, plus the cost of the core ($1200), because the bell housing was cracked.

So you are saying that it popped the cap off of the tube with pressure or it vibrated off? If it lifted it off with pressure thats not good.
I hope so, there should not be any pressure out of the oil fill tube, the smoke should be steady, if there was pressure you could possibly be looking into a rebuild.
Finally got the truck back last friday, bell housing welded and re-installed tranny. It then went off to overland driveshaft, the back driveshaft on the forward flanged coupling was bad, the spring inside the cup of coupling was gone, driveshaft was about 3/4-1" off center. Wore thru the cup wall, darnest thing i've ever seen. It actually reseated itself and was wearing a new race on the face. They also added almost a 1/2 ounce of weight to driveshaft, will try to post a picture of it soon, It now runs better than ever. Thanks for all the help on this matter. Steve
