I have a 79 F100. Modified inline 6 300 to OFFY intake w/ Holley 4 Barrel and hedman hedders. My question is Ive removed all emissions equipment so Im assuming I dont need to replace the fuel vapor emissions line when I replace the fuel lines ? Sounds like a dumb question butr wasnt sure if that should be used somehow ???
The fuel vapor lines connect to a charcoal canister and connects to the intake stream either by way of the carb or an intake fitting. You'll need to install a breather unless the fuel cap is vented. If ya simply plug the line, the volumr og fuel used in running the engine will not be displaced by air thus creating negative pressure in the gas tank which, in turn, will cause fuel not to flow.
Btw, keeping the PCV valve is a good thing for street engines.
I personally would leave the fuel vapor canister connected. It doesn’t have any effect on engine performance and, except for the added junk appearance under the hood, helps keep you vapors under control. Cars would have the leaking gasoline smells, especially on hot days, before they started installing these canisters. So, if you don’t like the smell of gasoline permeating from your vehicle I would kept it on. The EGR is another matter because it does affect engine performance.
