Yeah those worm gear hose clamps are garbage, I could not believe it when I seen ford used them. T-bolt clamps are way better!
Like mentioned make sure the pipes are couplers are supper clean!
I have had cars nitrous backfire and still not blow any couplers off when using hair spray. In fact one car blew apart its throttle body and the coupler was still attached to the one part of the throttle body.
After building the cold side for any car I pressure test to 50psi and make sure there are no leaks before the car leaves.
This car saw a minimum of 40# just about every time it moved. Saw so much cylinder pressures in fact that the ARP head studs were stretching and blowing coolant out. After the run the head would seat back down and be just fine. lol never ever once did a coupler blow off.
If temps over 117*F didn't make a difference in how things worked under the hood than I doubt ALL the auto makers would have spent the hundreds of millions of dollars on putting desert proving grounds within the Sonoran desert here! Believe me and them heat coming into you're engine compartment that is 140 to 150* will make all kinds of things go bad especially IC boots! Why do you think Dennis started making the billet air boxes? Any thing over 30 psi in the summer time here will most likely pop a boot at some point and a little aqua net will get it home ^so you can do a proper clean and dry torque!
Jim & fat very hot (still 107 today) Monty
Put mine on Monday. Had a couple pop off,but it was just a tightness issue. That was at 32lbs of boosts. Good since Monday. Using the intake boots for cup holders in the center council since I already have the RRD intake boots n reinforcements. They work pretty good. Haha.
...Not sure any climate would add more heat than the engine makes when its working HARD... ...
Gets pretty hot here in AZ. I hear the fan clutch engaging while just driving around town during the summer. I have to drive on the freeway for 3-4 miles before that thing will pipe down. I figure it's par for the course with triple digit temps. Does that happen to you guys in other parts of country as well? Does your fan clutch come on while driving around town unloaded?
I've popped a couple of boots off before but both times it was due to installer error. A good cleaning prior to assembly does the trick like everybody here has recommended. I only see 20 psi max though....
112* here in havasu today so its cooling down. i second the fan clutch engagement driving in town. as for IC boots i got a good set from clay with double tee clamps from west marine, no blow outs.

I have my 'intake air temp' sensor mounted behind the 6637 filter in my F350 and have monitored the temps there using Scangauge II for a few years now. I do not see 'underhood' temps more than a few degrees over ambient temp while driving and only 20ish degrees over ambient idling w/AC on. I doubt the difference in boot-holding ability changes much between 115 and 140*...
How hot did y'all think it was getting in there??? Anyone know how hot the air is post-turbo????
Fwiw, I seldom hear fan clutch for more than a few seconds with truck unloaded - unless I'm in those ridiculously hot temps...

Agree. It's on there good or it's not. At least for stock boost levels that is...(I can't speak for anything higher than 20 psi though...)

Last time I checked my intake air temp it was about 15 degrees over ambient. I bet that varies quite a bit depending on several factors though. I haven't monitored it enough to make any real determinations.
I've always wondered how hot the air post turbo was but haven't figured out a way to tell. I can measure the temp of the IC tube but only at idle. I bet it gets much warmer under load. If I had to guess, I would say somewhere around 250 degrees but that would just be a guess on my part.

250 under load is a fairly good estimate. I don't do diesel tuning but in the car world I see 250 with turbo and supercharged cars all the time. That is what the intercoolers are for.
This is a supercharged car with liquid intercooling. As you can see the IAT is still at 150F.
