ABS Sensor Test

Is there any way to test the front abs sensors on a 2000 F250 7.3L 4x4?

Had the abs light come on and off, replaced the rear sensor already in the diff.

Just an update, When I depress the brake pedal and turn the truck to the on position the abs light will stay off. As soon as I release the brake pedal the abs light will come on.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Are your brake lights functioning properly? The brake light switch is part of the ABS system and could be causing the ABS light. Do you have someone who can read ABS codes with their AE? This would help to point you in the right direction. You can test the ABS sensor by unplugging it at the connector behind the inner fender and connecting it the test leads of a DVOM or analog meter and set the scale to a low AC volt setting. Spin the wheel and you should see a fluctuating AC reading. I use this method to test the ABS on the tractor/trailer rigs at work and have done this test on my personal and family member's vehicles as well.

Yes the brake lights are working just fine and no I don't know anyone with AE to run a test. I will try that test tonight.

I don't think there was any rust inside the wheel hub when I had it apart last month to replace a ujoint.

The wheel hub and sensor are only about 3 years old.

Would I steer a brother wrong? Been a mechanic since before ABS even came out.

I just did a flush 4 months ago when I had to replace the master cylinder and the hydro booster and also a full brake fluid flush.
