Steering Box

I just repaced my power steering pump and it still takes everything I have to turn. When Im driving its fine but turning corners or just backing out of my driveway takes alot of kahonas. Could it be the Steering box? Its a 79 F150 that has 3/4 ton axles on it. Im unsure what they came from. Can anyone tell me what kind of steering box I would look for. What I mean is, does it have to come of a F250 or 150 or does it mater?

Can you turn the front wheels with the engine off and the front end off the ground?
