Which stroker

So it's about time to start building the stroker for the cruiser. Ive researched alot, read all the great helpful posts to my previous threads and decided that the stroker is the way to go.

With that said if money wasnt an issue and you could have what you wanted would you have dss racing or fordstrokers.com build your shortblock and why. Blkfordsedan, conanski and anybody else please post up. I think this Gould be a great thread for others in the future.

Thanks again
Will

Are you building a truck engine(0-5000rpm) or are you trying to capture every last 1/4 HP the thing can possibly make?

If it's the former and you truely want it to be your truck I say you build it with your own hands.. once the machine work has been done of course, because IMO the engine is the heart of the beast(sorry Harley) and it ain't yours if you didn't personally build it. Of course you can pick any parts you want to go in it, forged or cast they all assemble the same and there is no rocket science involved just cleanliness and attention to detail(i.e. use a TQ wrench). That's all that is needed for a reliable driver that won't be spun to the moon, that's all that goes into production motors that aften go 200-300k miles, if however you want to spool it mercilessly and maybe add boost or spray down the road then it's worth it to get the experience of one of the major engine builders to assemble a bulletproof shortblock with the very best parts.

you didn't mention if you are using the 5.0 or 5.8 block. If the sky was the limit,I think it would be cool to take a 351w and stroke it to 427. would be cool to see the expressions on faces when they hear 427 SMALL BLOCK!!

408's are cheap, and would have a good power curve under 5000.

No spoon feeding gonna be needed here. Reason I asked that question was simple, I wanted to know who's brain it was best to pick, and whose blocks would be the best (which translates into which parts are best). One uses there own pistons, crank, rods that they build in house (or so they tell me) the other uses off the shelf stuff.

I'm gonna put it together myself, this isn't my first rodeo, just my first building a stroker ford. I've only got enough money to do it once so I better ask lots of questions, research alot and then build a badass engine.

Conanski, I agree with you totally on build it yourself.

Thanks for the input and please post up with any info, input, opinions on this.

Thanks again
Will
