what do i need and how hard in it to put a dana 60 front and 70 rear in a 79 f150 step side. running 42s now and the dana 44 aint gonna hold much longer. gonna start mud racing regularly now. and what about the coil vs leaf sprung. and will the brakes fit under an 8 lug 15 inch rim? thanks, any info is helpful.
Check Pauls (captainp4s) tech thread in the tech sticky at the top of the page for a really good "how to" on putting the 60 in the front. The 70 is a direct bolt in.
Youve got coils now so Id keep them. They perform better both on and offroad anyway.
In most cases a 60 front wont fit with a 15" rim without taking a grinder to the calipers. Its a pretty easy job but it takes some time. I think your biggest issue will be finding 10-12+" wide 15" 8lug rims. The best source Ive found were trailer rims and weld in a strip to make them the desired width.
yep, us wheel still makes the wagon wheels and like one other kind of retro 80's looking wheel in 8 lug 15''. i think they quit making the white wagons like i bought, but they only came in 4'' back spacing anyways. still carry black and natural steel finish.
