I have the power window kit on my 83 f150. It uses the manual window crank. If they ever go out I can re use my cranks. They have been on about two years and work great. They are a little slow compared to new cars. I would also use a heavier gauge wire to run the controls from the drivers side to the passengers window. I have seen the window and lock set for around 80 bucks on ebay. I do plan to buy a set for my 79. I love them because they do not need any mods and can still go back factory with no issues.

Hope you have better luck than I did, that stlye of actuator seem to only hold up for me for about 2 years. The first time the control box went out, so I bought another set replaced the control box then not long after that one actuator went out replaced it with a new one from the kit I bought the second time and not long after that the other side went out. As long as they work there great but if they fail on you just get some OE ford ones from a junk yard and wire them in.

The screws are hidden behind the door panel.. Also it only took about an hour total... well. Without the wiring..

Yep, I love it too. Getting rid of the York compressor and changing out the fixed fan for the Taurus fan makes it very quiet and neat under the hood.

I've gotta ask... what the heck is the serpentine conversion?

I've heard of this a few times while on FTE in the past, but never really thought much of it...

Anyone have a link?

It's putting all the brackets and accessories that run off only one belt, instead of 3. Here's a link to my thread about it, ignore the original stupid question about mounting the fixed fan backwards. LOL

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...lt-set-up.html

EDIT: I am running a 130 amp alt from a Taurus, 89 Mustang GT water pump, FS10 compressor from a 95 F150, and the Power steering pump from a 90 F150. All the brackets, water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley, and tensioner came from the 90 F150 with a 302.

Ok, hijack is over.

Ah okay, I see what you did now. It actually looks really good under the hood, but do you have a pic of the engine bay with the belt on and routed through all those pulleys?

This conversion interests me, but only really in the future as I need a running engine before I can get to anything else (or that's how I think of it... running first, upgrades later).

And I don't really see how it would reduce the noise under the hood all that much... are there other benefits to it, other than just the noise reduction?

I did my electric locks with mid 90' rear explore parts. The poppers come with a bracket with single bolt hole location and they fit just beside the window track. I did have to weld a tab onto the current door lock rod to meet up with the rod on the explorer parts but it all works well. Best part is these things are cheap and easy to find at any junk yard.

Add in the fact I have a crew so getting to rear door locks or window cranks is a pain.

What kit did you use, or did you use stock type parts? Pics?

I saved the actuators, etc. from the dodge I got my cummins out of and planned on making them work. After reading the below though I may just grab some exploder ones.

Hmmm - something else I need to add to the "to buy" list at the yard.

I'm feeling what chase said more... woman are important too, and my truck sure aint keeping them around haha.

Unless it's really the truck they're after, and I'm being fooled hahaha!

Creature comforts for those who don't like to be "traditional" (or old) is always a good thing... otherwise you'll never get to take your girl for a ride... or your girl for a ride in your ride
