Hi all, I purchased a 351W HO from a 1984 F-150 and decided to go through and replace all gaskets, oil pump and pick-up, and the timing chain, I ended up getting a chain that has the three key-way timing choices and am not sure which to use, I thought that I had read that the cam came retarded from the factory to reduce emissions and then read otherwise the other day, SOOOO which way should I go, I am not trying to blast off to the moon, just as good of power as I can get for a bumpside and as good of gas mileage as I can muster, I bought a Holley 600 CFM for it too, any help is greatly appreciated
Put the cam in straight up or maybe advanced a couple degrees if anything for more TQ, the HO cam is an old marine grind which makes it a good overall performer.
Yeah that will work, just be aware it will shift the whole powerband down a few hundred rpms which is great for truck use but not so great if you want to build high rpm HP.
