That looks like an aircraft Tug, more pulling power that you will ever need in your life (mostly pretty high gearing) but you will be lucky if it can reach 10mph.

Your probably right given it's USAF designation but it looks quite similar to a truck I've seen around here that's used to move mobile homes. It's capable of 55mph I know of, but not sure how much beyond that.
link fixed (i believe) oh and thats an extreme short wheel base truck my friend, and as others stated ment for towing planes, generally fighter jets but I think it could do some larger ones but im not sure as I havent seen one in operation before...
that is a mid 80's airport tug.
they have unbelievable pulling power, but top speed is around 20 mph.
i have seen them with both the standard 300 six cylinder, and on some 460's for use on large commercial jets. trans is usually a C-6
they were replaced with the newer tugs that are seen in airports now that look sorta like riding lawn mowers on steroids.
Yes, that is a special-purpose vehicle that (IMO) is unsuitable out on the road at highway speeds, both due to the gearing as well as the extremely short wheelbase.
Now if you wanted to pull stumps out on your farm, or drag around really heavy stuff, then a different story . . .
I knew a guy who had a diesel airport tug (can't remember, think it was an International) who was trying to sell it also. Very low (meaning numerically high) gearing, and it had literally tons of ballast weight on it too, would be good for parts maybe and then turn in the rest for scrap metal.
