looking at newer excursion
suggetions please i am planning an upgrade from my 2000 Ex ltd v10 2wd 128000 mile to a 2002 Ex xlt 4x4 v10 63500 miles. Basically is going to be my truck plus $11000. the new truck comes with 12 month 12000 miles full powertrain coverage. How i look at this is my payment are lower i get a 2 year newer truck and 64000 less miles and a year of warranty. Negative is about 4 mpg less. Am i missing something. should i go for it???????

If you want/need a 4x4 ok, but the price it way too high - keep lookin'. A used 2002 V10 4x4 can be had for $8-12K depending on condition. Your current V10 will go another 200K with care; that mileage difference of 64K is not a big deal IMO.

after the last 2 winters paying tow trucks to pull my orca (black excursion with snow cake to the bottom of the truck) out of the ditch i think i will work a better deal. I want to trade my truck plus 5000. i think this is within reason. I have until november and with the economy i do not think this 2002 ex will sell to fast. They have 2 others on the lot 1 v10 and a 6.0psd with over 175000 on them and most are in tough shape. the 2002 i am looking at is like it just came out of the showroom real nice but not excellent. hopefully they will move on the price!

tykateexcursion, I understand you want the 4X4, lower miles and warranty, but you can surely do better than $11K + your X. What is their asking price with no trade?

well i brought it home for a good inspection, found air leak on front passenger pillar, running board lights do not work, air conditioner clutch cliks, vibration at 65mph, and the ball jopint are still the original and have play. So back to the dealer to get my old faithful 2000. done deal walked away and have no regrets!!!!!! Thank you for everyones opinions, they really helped!
