Are the MSD 8.5mm wires spiral core magnetic suppression wires?
I've tried using spiral core wires on my 89 5.0L and they would always cause a miss along with spark knock at conditions that would advance the timing, such as part throttle, low rpm's and full throttle. Not sure why, maybe crossfire in the cap or electromagnetic interference that disturbs the computers inputs.

Have you put a chip in your truck? If so you need to run a higher octane gas to help with the advancing distributor. Might want to try higher octane anyway and see if that'll help.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Nov-02 AT 09:21 AM (EST)]Check your ignition timing. If the engine has a lot of miles, consider changing the timing gear set. TFIs are known to go out, so consider replacing it, too. Is it running hot? Have you pulled the codes? It may be running lean. I recently found a BAD miss that only appeared under load. It was caused by a plug boot working its way up the wire, allowing the spark to jump from the wire to the head. It didn't appear when I was looking under the hood until I pulled the IAC to clean it, but all it took was sliding the boot back down. Check all the simple things. Air filter, fuel filter, EGR, SPOUT, vacuum lines, ...
thanks for the info, I pulled apart my ignition and I discovered that my rotor and cap were wasted, I do not know how I let this slip by. This is imbarressing, im a gear head and could be sacrificed to the car gods for this.
