Did you change the right oil? Im not trying to be smart here... But I used to work at Honda and a guy there drained the trans and filled the engine to do an oil change. It can happen.
Did you smell the fluid? Did it smell like oil or trans fluid? New truck? Did you do the last oil change? Maybe someone filled it with the wrong stuff.
Sounds to me it was trans fluid if it was red ... Someone made a opsy. At least you changed it. I have a cummins that had a pilot pump let go and it would fill the motor with hydro oil till it came out a breather. Took 3 weeks of 8 hour days running before we figured out the issue. No real engine damage resulted. So other then a good clean out... I think you will be ok if it is trans oil in the motor.
As volvo said check to make sure you did every thing right and didn't just make a problem.
Thought the exact same thing the other day... but turned out to be that the red container i was draining it into was reflecting through the clean oil... making it appear extremely red.
