Light Problems

Hi everyone first of all, thanks for all the help that I have recieved from reading through the forum. I have a 1975 Ford F250 I just bought that is an electrical nightmare. I have replaced the turn signal switch, and rebuilt the entire tail light harness (including new sockets). I still have an issue though, all lights work normally until I pull the light switch on, I have all marker and tail lights when I press the break pedal my reverse lights come on and I have no right brake light. I did re-ground from the battery to the block, block to the frame, frame to cab sheet metal, frame to bed sheet metal. With the light switch off break lights work normal, but it appears the reverse lights are on faintly. When I check ground at my tail light socket should I be able to put a test lead on the ground wire and the other on the bed sheet metal and read resistance? Or how exactly is the best way to check my grounds just to be certain? Any other ideas i'm going to replace the light switch today?
