Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to drop in and say greetings from NW North Dakota. I just purchased my first ford, a 78 shortbox ranger xlt. It has a 400 4 speed. I plan on doing a lot of work to it this winter; lift kit, tires, 4.88 gears, reseal the motor, new clutch, etc etc. I am a chevy man, so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions once I get rolling on this project.
So far Ive drove it a bunch and replaced the grille and cab lights. Hopefully in a week or so I will receive a batch of parts I already bought off the parts board here.
Welcome to FTE and congrats on your first Ford. Was that faux woodgrain inside the racetrack mouldings?
4.88 is a GM ratio and are steep unless yer running 40s. What ya got in mind for your rig? Ford 9 ratios in the fours include 4.11, 4.30, 4.56, 4.57, 4.86.
