Well here we go. I have a 1977 f-250 with a 390 built up that I put in and when I am pulling out of second gear the tires will hop if I barely get on it. Now it had this same problem when I had the 351m in it so it isn't the motor and tranny combination I wouldn't think. I led to believe that it could be weak leaf springs because when I load it up it seams to sag more than it should. What do you guys think.

Cobra - true; the worn springs will allow the rear-end to "wrap" (hop) more than good (new) springs.
Just like Harrison and his built 460 - downshifting will make the back side hop and squeal the tires (which really impresses the local yakamoes but is bad on my $700 Michelins) - I plan to replace the springs later this summer in the rear...
replace the leaf springs or beef them up, if its not that replace the shocks, if that doesent work get some of the traction bars that you put on your leaf springs (they work I put some on witha friend) he can now smoke the tires and sit at stop lighrts and scare passing cars by barking his tires as they pass.... its so funny
Hey guys thanks I'll try that. I already put new shocks on the truck when I restored it. So that should be o.k. but I am willing to bet that it is the leaf springs. I first have to cut and buff the new paint job. thanks
