I just had my entire exhaust system replaced from header to the tips including 2 Flowmaster 70 series mufflers.
My question is this. Since I think that it is too loud for me, is there some type of resonator that can be put inline with each muffler to quieten it down a little more ?
I do not have catalytic convertors either. Just mufflers and it is true dual.
Thanks for the help since i don't know much about the exhaust.
WOW. That SOB must be loud. Ne Ways, I have a suggestion. Try adding any resonator to your exhuast and turning the baffles toward you. Doing this will result in less noise and maybe a little power loss.
you could add some high flow cats to it they don't rob quite as much power as regular cats and they won't make it too quiet either. plus they'll make it so you don't get a headache from driving with the back window down for any length of time.
Also how did you run true duals i've looked everyway i can and i can't find a way to get them out the back because the gas tank is so big and the transfer case seemes to be in the way to run one pipe out the drivers side. you must know something about exhaust to make that one work.
I'll get under it and then come back online in the next day or so and describe how they are run. I'll try to take some photos but I don't have a lift so they may not be that good.
I have true duals on my '81 Bronco. It has a 70 sumpin 351C , so no cats or smog. The passenger side crosses over to the drivers side in front of tranny ten both run down drivers side and the pass side crosse back over again. I'll have to look to see exactly where. Both exit just behind rear wheels on the sides. Runnin them out the back will get exhaust in cab with the rear window down. I found one way to tone down interior noise it to put some more insulation under carpet. Did this on my D@#$e Pick-up and it really helped. Plan on doing it to my Bronco when I get Flowmasters installed....
