Hi guys, new to the site, but have been lurking and learning a lot about these trucks. I am an ASE certified mechanic, but most of my knowledge is Chevy's and Dodges. I have a 97 F350 with the 460, and I am looking to add some gauges instead of relying on the idiot lights. I'd like to see pics of other peoples A-pillar installs and pods to see what I'd like to go with.
These are my glowshift gauges, tach and oil press. They look great, not super cheap, but they're pretty nice. And you can even get 4 pod covers, but I don't think you would be able to see the top one or two very well. And this is a blurry pic, they are very clear and easy to see, and these are the tinted lenses.
You can also get single pillar pods. You can get covers that go over all of the existing pillar or just a pod that covers part of it. The full covers are more expensive though. Glowshift sells all manner of them though, from singles to 4 pod covers.
My thought is to go with 3, one for oil, one for water temp, and another for fuel pressure. I'll check out the ones I've seen here. Thanks for the pics guys...keep 'em coming.
Mine are Autometer gauges. They are the Phantom series. I bought mine from Jegs. They had a pretty good selection. Go to the autometer website. They have a HUGE lineup. I wanted something that would go well with my interior.
I really like the glowshift gauges...I'll be using electronic gauges as opposed to mechanical. Dont need hot oil getting on the exhaust or at my feet. I also want something that will match my interior, and hopefully match the dash lights. Thanks for the tip on jegs. Been a while since I've been to their site. Has anyone had to dye the pod to match?
If you're interested in glowshift, they just sent me an email with the code: SummerSavings11 that's good for 15% off your order from their website. The ones in my pic are the tinted 7 color series. They're actually really bright, so even if the sun is on the face of the gauge you can see it, and you can wire them so they dim with you're stock cluster on for night use (splice the brown wire in the headlight switch).
true, but they're better than nothing. I ask (we're getting waaay off here) because After I tow a trailer for about half an hour with some small hills I get the check engine light when I slow down to maybe 55 or 40 after exiting the highway. I really need to get around to pulling codes, but I've got the E4OD and I'm wondering if the shifting with weight on the truck pisses it off a little
