Were you able to keep the manual locking hubs in the front?
Yep, they are there under the covers. I have a key in the truck to unlock the covers so I can get to them if need be.

I am not a fan of chrome and for some reason, the front of this truck does not bug me. I may do some paint and "borrow" Andy's idea. Not sure yet.

Truck looks great! Found some pics of a grey truck with a painted grill on another site. Hopefully this works. http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/6-7...d-2011s-8.html

I have seen that truck, it's a monster! I am thinking more like Andy's truck with the two bars and a bit of chrome. We will see.

My bars already have chips. For that reason I have decided not to paint them Tuxedo Black.

Wow, the before and after don't even look like the same truck. Great job all around. In my opinion, perfect size and I love the wheels you chose. The black wheels really set off the grey. And lastly, again just my opinion, but I love the chrome grill.....especially on your truck and the fact that you went with black wheels. It's not over the top with chrome.

Again, fantastic job. Thanks for sharing more pics!

I feel the same Brian, thank you. The front end does not bother me one bit and I am not a chrome guy. I don't understand why except that the front end is gorgeous on this truck.

Andy, Gavin had a great idea with the 3M tape over the paint. Probably 99% of the Lambo's have this done and it is amazing how well the cars look. Not a chip or a scratch and most do the front and roof and some of the back. The 3M does a great job. If I do paint the Grille like you did, I will do the 3M. It's very hard to see as well.

Steve,
Is the film to use black or clear?

I have my truck 3M on the front hood about 1' up and along the bottom sides of the truck. No rock chips and you can hardly see it. I think its a great product. With the amp steps you need a little more protection along the sides.

I had the same done, although they used something other than 3M. I think it was Invisishield. Did about 18 inches up the front of the hood, and the same along the sides. They also did the thin strip inside the wheel wells and the space between the top of the windshield and the sunroof.

We had it done to my wifes new car as well. After having a 2004 Nissan Armada (white) that had literally hundreds of chips all across the nose of the hood, I will do it to every car / truck in the future. When we sold the Armada last year, the only issue with it was all the rock chips.

And finally, after 1 year of owning my '11 SD, the only rock chip on it so far is on the windshield....

It is clear however; with a little more searching I found different films that can be applied in black, Carbon Fiber etc. This may be something to use.
