Yes they are still there. I still need to remove them to hone the cylinders.

Please keep posting as you go. One thing I have found, if you use stock pistons and hone for new rings you have more piston slap and usually use more oil. It is always better to go at least 10 over. Just my experience. Most of mine is in gas engines but I am sure diesel is know different. Chet

My understanding was that I could just ball hone it to break the glaze and not have to bore it.

Honing till takes off metal. Opens up the cyclinder to wall cleance and therefore more piston slap . Piston slap could cause skirt breakage also if excessive with our compression ratios. You can always cleance the ring gap but you are opening the hole. This is my opinion but I seen lot of guys try this on gas engines and ended up doing it right in not to many miles. God bless, Chet

Nope I will have to consolidate the posts into separate threads to avoid confusion

Thanks Jim.

First of all I would like to say Thank you to Cory (Ziggy). I was on the phone with him for almost an hour last night. He answered all my engine rebuilding questions I had. You all were right, could not ask for a nicer guy.

My cousin came over and checked the specs on the crank and cam. Great news they are within spec. So now I can order parts.

I had been busy the last couple days trying to get items cleaned, painted, rebuilt before I'm ready to put the engine back together. EBV cleaned and rebuilt. Turbo cleaned, painted, rebuilt with WW.

Just got a call from the place I send my injectors. They need to be rebuilt. At a tune of $166 each plus the testing. Riffraff is cheaper than that. I would love to upgrade but then I have to get custom tuning for that. I don't want to spend all the extra money for that right now. Might have them send my injectors back, pay for the testing, order them from Riffraff.

We can do a package if you need so you can justify upgrading to single shots. Wish we could have helped you with the testing as that cost can be applied to the new injectors if you ended up going that direction.

If you upgraded to single shot AC's Riffraff Diesel: Stage 1 Single Shot Injectors you could always just have Jody flash your PCM $80 IIRC

Yep...Riffraff Diesel: DP Tuner Customer Supplied PCM Performance Flash

True that would be a cheaper way out. But I like the option of different tunes.
