1. Advance timing to take advantage on high octane fuel
2. Run fuel 10% leaner no need for extra fuel for the CAT
3. Change trans shifting profile..
All I want is #3 change trans shifting. I don’t wish to pay for high octane fuel for only a little HP gain. But the trans improvements would be very welcome.
Does anyone know if there are chips that just change trans shifting profile?
Can the gas run leaner with out advancing the timming?
BTW: I have a 92 f150 302 4 speed auto with an overdrive button on the console shifter..
I'm a little new to these years of trucks, but I think a transmission shift kit can be added to your trans. to do what you want W/O going all out for the chip.
Yes, we can tune a chip for 87 octane with the transmission improvements. Don't know where you read 10% leaner, that's dangerous. Chips usually run it about 2% leaner, but only when using a premium fuel tune. You don't want to lean it out on 87 octane....

I don't know where I got that number ether.. 10% would be bad
I don't want to try and take any business away from Ken and all other good ole boys on this site, but you may also want to check into the Banks Transcommand. It is a module you plug directly into your tranny. I have one on my F250 and think it is one of the BEST mods I have done to my truck. Shifts are firmer and seem to happen at more appropriate intervals. I think the website is bankspower.com. Or just call em, they are real friendly folk. They even overnighted a new connector THAT I BROKE, for free to get me up and running.
