Well, if you didn't have the cylinder's bored over (X) amount, then STD pistons would perhaps be ok. There is a caliper tool that gauges the inside of cylinder walls. Looks like a "T". You are to get 3 different readings. One from the bottom, one from the middle, one from near the top of the stroke of the piston in the cylinder. These readings can help you identify ring and piston measurments.
But as I said earlier, if the machinist didn't bore it over, but honed, STD is, "Perhaps" ok. Do you have a "build" or just some repair work? Someone with a bit more knowledge will chime in.
Yeah well need more info to give an accurate answer. But based off of what you've posted, no, by block surface im assuming you mean top where heads and intake go. By surface you meant re-smoothed.
If you meant the cylinders themselves were bored or machined then you'd need to take the measurements Timbersteel mentioned.
your reciept should also tell you what they did and if they bored how much they bored it and clean your pistons and check to make sure that you dont have oversized pistons
