This is what my speaker hole looks like. Not the greatest shot, but I never thought to take a pic of just the speaker hole, heh. Just a round hole, but the 4 holes look to have the same dimensions as the grills posted. I cannot remember if my truck had holes for the radio in it. \
Greg, I will heading out to the farm where I store all my parts tomorrow night, so I should have an answer for you by then.
I owe a bunch of appreciation for everyone's help on this, Buzz44, Cropdusterdude and BillW
65jim, Thanks for the no-grille shots. I notice the photos of the grille-less dash do have an insect screen that keeps foreign objects out of the speaker cone area.
nonoodlez, A big Thanks! for the article on radio repair. BTW, our local electronics store said the 50uf and 500uf caps were no longer made, so I went with 47 and 470, both at 35v. Might be worth an update on your Instructables article if others are as clueless as I was about electronics values.
CGB, Thanks Corey, I remember the pix when you first posted. Looks like you are elbows deep into this one now! Good progress!
Hey np old harley. Glad to help. My 63 has a screen up under the dash that goes over the speaker hole as well. Im not sure how it is attached. When I start stripping the cab down for paint and body work Ill take a closer look at that.
