I would just like to know how many kilometers or miles any V6 Escape owners out there are getting on a tank. My MPG is miserable and I am wondering if that's the norm or if I am just unlucky. I love this truck but I am curious if they are all this bad on gas. My current MPG is 12MPG or 300 Kms per tank.
You should be seeing 17mpg on average. What year is the Escape and how many miles do you have on it? If it's used check the air filter. Maybe it was driven in dusty conditions and the air filter is clogged.
My Escape is a 2002 with 16,000 kms. Bought it off my neighbor and I know it has never really seen adverse conditions other than winter. However, I have kept track of the past 6 tanks and I have averaged 12 MPG, once getting only 10.8!!! No real long warm ups, no lead foot...lucky me. It pains me to read about all those out there getting 17-20 MPG. I'll check the filter, thanks for your advice.
Check the oil change history if u can. It should of had at least 3 by now. Also does it pull to the side as if it needs an alinement? How are the tires?
Oil was done every 4000 km and she drives straight as an arrow. Ironically, the neighbor that I bought it from has a new one (he gets a new Ford every year / company vehicle) and he says he get 500 kms to a tank. That's why I wanted to ask what everyone elso gets. Do you have an Escape and if so, how many miles or kms do you get to a tank?
I went to FORD and inquired but they told me that they do not even recognize the engine as "broken in" until 25,000 kms and therefore will no look into my mileage concerns. Ain't that grand.

That was ridiculous for Ford to say that- 5,000 miles is plenty of miles to have broken in an engine. I'd find another dealer and get that vehicle checked out. It could be anything: are the brakes dragging, is there a gas leak or evaporative emissions problem, is the O/D not kicking in? As I said, it could be anything, but a Ford service department needs to go through it. I've NEVER heard of anyone getting such horribly low mileage in an Escape. I'll bet Monsta does better with his V10 Excursion!!
