New Excursion owner checking in/saying Hi

Been looking at the Excursions for a while, finally brought one home today. It's really just a "want" and a toy because I already have 3 other vehicles, one of them being my 2011 f250 4x4 King Ranch Power Stroke.

I wanted the excursion as a daily driver to and from work and something I could take to the deer woods and haul my dogs in. I would have loved to have found a nice 7.3 ltr, but since this was a "extra" toy, I didn't want to spend that much money, and the 7.3's in my price range all had 200K plus miles on them.

I found this 2002 4x4 V10, it has 150K miles on it. It's absolutey immaculate inside and out. I've found 2 small door dings on it and I cant find a single flaw in the interior. It came with a folder full of service records going all the way back to when it was new. It's in excellent condition and runs good. It came with a Pioneer AVIC ??? something in-dash touch screen and a JL audio 10" sub and a amp. It's had some recon cab lights added to the top and some towing mirrors put on it. I'm extremely happy with it. I paid $6000 for it, it seemed like a fair price considering that it was in close to show room condition and it had all the service records with it.

It needs new tires, the current 285's on it are pretty worn, but I have plans for this bad boy. I've been reading about lifting with the springs from a F250 V codes? I'm not total clear on this process yet, but I have suspension parts from where I lifted my 08 superduty and my "11 superduty. I know I have the rear leafs from my 08, but my '11 kept the leaves and used a Carli Mini pack added to it. I have all the stock Rancho shocks, u bolts, from my 2011. I hope from all the stuff I have, I'll have enough to lift it so that I dont have to spend too much money on the lift. Any clarification on this process would be appreciated. I just want to be able to run 35's on the stock rims.

Anyway, here are a couple picks of the new X and my 2011 F250. I have alot to learn about the X's, but I'll be reading up and trying to figure it all out.

WOW!

That X is sweet looking and that '11 SD is the best I have ever laid eyes on! Makes me want to go buy a fist full of lottery tickets just for a chance to have the money for something that nice.

As for your X suspension plans, about the only thing you can use from your SD take-off parts pile may be the rear leafs and rear shocks. The X uses leaf springs up front and both your SD's use coil springs up front. The rear leaf springs from your SD's are probably longer than the X's, but I've heard of people adapting them to earlier rigs.

In order to clear 35's on stock rims, I think you will need about a 4" lift spring in front. I am by no means an expert on X lifts (I have a SD) but there are tons of helpful folks in the X forum and they are always exchanging info about X lifts and suspension improvements.

Anyway, welcome to FTE!

P.S.
Did I mention how droolicious your '11 is?

Damned nice automobiles. Seriously. I've been eyeing those 2011 f250's for a while, and only in that configuration.

A man that knows how to take care of his vehicles. Very, very nice.

At $6,000 you stole that Excursion. (Congratulations!) Everything that I've seen in that price range has serious issues and/or extremely high mileage.

Oklahoma? At least that is Oklahoma if you are in 73402 zip code(?) If yes, how well does that A/C work in your Excursion? 116F yesterday in Tulsa and the 2005 Excursion A/C did OK.

Back on topic. I think even the rear leafs on the 2008 were different from 2000 - 2005 Excursions (and even from 2006-2007 F250s). Seems like they lengthened the rear leaf springs in 2008 model year. Shocks would definitely also be different all the way around. Don't know what you can salvage for Excursion.

That's a damn good looking rig! Mine had 93000 and I paid $12 for mine...thinking even with a little more mileage, you got that for a song!

Congrats!

...I'm not jealous...not at all...
