Did a search but couldn't find an answer. 2000, F-350,7.3, single alternator. This issue has been getting progresivly worse. The engine starts fine starter motor turns fine, not draining battery over night.
After initial start up the lights and any electrical components are weak and dim. It usually lasts less than a minute. It only happens on morning start up or after coming out from work to drive it home. It's not an outside temp issue it's been 100+ degrees in Ft Worth and doe's the same thing in 80 degrees.
One of the neg battery cables has a stiff spot and swollen so I tried another neg batttery cable in parallel with the facory one and no change.
Could the GPR be pulling to many amps or sticking? Any ideas where to start testing?
Sounds like it could be a flakey alternator. Take it out and have it tested at an autoparts store. They can check the output both with and without a load.
