I am kind of looking for another truck, but I would like to avoid that godawful Mazda five-speed if possible. I don't want an automatic and F-250s are a little expensive for me, so here is the question: I know that 150s with the 300 and 302 came with the Mazda tranny, did the 351 come only with an automatic? It seems the new 5.4 only has an automatic unless you move up to the 3/4 ton, has it always been this way? The biggest V-8 in the 1/2 ton lineup only available with an auto? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the 351 was only available with an automatic for the 87-96 model years. Its a shame, however I'm sure many people would have purchased the combo. As mentioned above the mazda M5OD couldn't handle the torque of the 351, nevertheless a 5.4L.
Thanks for the replies, I guess I will see about getting an F-250. I haul too much in the bed too often to risk the Mazda. I appreciate the help and info.
I KNOW I have seen the 351 in a F150 with a 5-speed behind it. Now whether it came from the factory with it or not...i dunno. And as other's have said, I have a '96 F150 and have had no problems with my 5-spd manual trans behind my 5.0L.
