6.9 Diesel Question

Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum and diesel trucks. I have been looking at the 6.9 diesels for my winter vehicle and have a question. I go to college out towards Boston and the truck would be sitting in the winter time at length. My question really would be: How can I insure a good start every time after it has been sitting for a couples days? I am new to diesels so any information about this or diesels in general would be greatly appreciated.

A good Glow Plug system using a manual push-button system with Motorcraft/Beru ZD-9 glow plugs. A good fuel system on these old engines is essential, because its all mechanically operated it doesn't require a computer or any of those things. Just those two things and you should have yourself a vehicle that will start right up and be nice and reliable fer all your driving needs, gets better Fuel Economy than some new vehicles, if you drive it careful.

Good battery cables can really make your day, they are often over looked, but play a big role in cranking speed.

Gear reduction starter as well. it spins the engine faster when starting, which is what you want...trust me on that.
