Titan tank shield

I'm planning on adding the 50 gal Titan tank to my list of mods. Are most of you guys placing the Titan shield also? I've noticed some discussion of modifying the existing skid plate or creating a new one out of aluminum. Is the shield ineffective? I do some offroad driving but nothing extreme......no rock crawling From the description on Titan's website the shield sounds pretty robust.

You can watch the Hill Descent Control video and get an idea of some of the off roading tnat I've done with my Titan tank. I knew I would need the extra protection so there was never a question as to whether or not I would include the shield. Even after all my adventures, I have yet to impact the tank shield on anything. That 's most like due to pure driving skill but the huge clearance these truck have helps a little.

I forget who, but one of our members had a metal bar penetrate both the shield and the tank on a freeway. This is where a steel tank shield can't be beat. He had a good idea to shape a sheet of stainless steel to fit in between the tank and the shield. That's just a really good idea.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

If someone can fix the link for me I'd apreciate it. I'm mobile and can't get it right.
That steel plate in between is a great idea. If its was not such a pain to drop the tank I would do this in a heartbeat. Why did you not come up with this idea Epic?

Not to belittle anyone's choice of AM fuel tank, but I'm waiting for the TransferFlow steel tank for the long bed PSD.

I really liked the fit and quality of the 46 gallon T-Flow tank on my '05 short bed crew cab, and plastic fuel tanks in Southern California get drilled and drained too often by fuel thieves. No need for a skid plate with a steel fuel tank.

I'm in that waiting mode but for another reason. I heard that the Titan tanks do not have baffling in them. I know there was some discussion about the swishing of the fuel in them and baffling is supposed to be there to prevent that.

I also remember a thread where someone said they spoke with Titan and they were told that it does have some sort of baffling. I thought that person was going to order one and take a look inside for us. Can't remember who that was.

I can't imagine Titan or anybody being able to put baffles in a one piece formed HDPE tank. As for drilling and draining tank, does 16 gauge steel prevent this better than HDPE? It doesn't take any longer to drill a thin steel tank than it does plastic.

Transferflow tanks definitely have baffling as I verified with the tank on my '05.

I've heard no reports of steel tanks being drilled/drained. Thieves may be wary of a spark and the resulting fire, whether Diesel or gasoline. A spark while drilling a gasoline tank would be far more spectacular though.
